Honda CT 125 Thai Enduro Tire Test
Переглядів 318День тому
The video today is Robert and I taking our Honda CT's out into the country side during one of our Rainy Season rain days, just to test out our knobby tires we put on our bikes a few days ago. We are doing it just to see how well they handle in wet and muddy conditions. Both on cement and on dirt "mud" in todays case. The tires are a brand named Camel, they are made here in Thailand and are rear...

      @@TeamDNFracing Thanks! The editing will be a bitch with multiple cameras in action, but worth it. My earlier videos had 4 cameras.. one on my chest, one on a tripod, one for underwater shots and one on the quadcopter for overhead shots. I gradually evolved to just using a single camera and took it off my chest and put it on the tripod when needed, and rarely use the quadcopter or the underwater camera. Then at least all the clips are already in already in time order.

      @@TheExistentialVegan The enduro is in Lampang, Thailand and is October 6. Lampang is about 100 Kilometers South of where I live and I rode in it last year on my Yamaha WR 155R. The tight terrain made it difficult for me to turn the way to heavy Yamaha without tipping over so I got overheated and it zapped my strength lifting that almost 300 pound bike up. • @TeamDNFracing
      @TeamDNFracing 12 днів тому

      My first thought on your question is "Why would I want a set of Shinko SR 241 tires to go ride in a Thai Enduro"? Not to be sarcastic, but those tires are very similar to the IRC and Vee-Rubber tires we can get here in Thailand and we run the Vee-Rubber tires on our bikes now for everyday use. They work very well on most every surface except, rocky, tree roots and rutted trails. We need a full on knobby tire and that is what the Camel Moto Cross tire is. We've done extensive tire testing the past four years on our Honda CT's and if all you are going to ride is pavement, then the stock IRC tire that comes with the bike is as good as any tire out there. If you want to ride pavement and off road, we have found the Vee-Rubber tires work the best on all conditions and will last longer than the IRC with the same tread pattern which is the same as the Shinko tires pattern. Thanks for the comment, but I need a tire that works extremely good Offroad, and the Camel Motocross knobby tire does that very well. I set the pressure at 10 PSI for competition with these and it flexes and bites exactly the way I need it to. The Shinko, just won't bite like a full knobby tire does.....

    So when will you do an LS engine swap? I think that will be the final piece of the puzzle that makes this a perfect bike though I think you'll need a bigger wheel in the back.

    • @TeamDNFracing
      @TeamDNFracing 18 днів тому

      In 1982 the Husqvarna race bikes came with a 17 inch rear wheel. The CT has a 17 inch rear wheel, I'd much rather have a 21 inch wheel up front, a little longer swing arm and longer rear shocks with longer front forks. No need to go to a LS engine, just need to utilize what this engine has to be able to keep it in the torque sweet spot, a manual clutch will do that. The Thai racers regularly modify the Honda Wave bikes and it's amazing what they can do with them and the places they can go on them. Suspension is the key to be able to go places and being able to keep the power at the right RPM's....

    • @wantblackwolf
      @wantblackwolf 18 днів тому

      @@TeamDNFracing Cool information, I was just being sarcastic with the LS. Every time I hear someone wanting to do an engine swap on their car/truck it's either an LS or Cummins. I'm considering buying a cheap CT and putting electric hub motors on front and rear. I'd add a generator to the engine to power them. @TeamDNFracing 19 днів тому

      On pavement straight roads it handle great, with the V-Rubber tires on it. Just a little more care is needed on pavement with the knobbies on it. On dirt roads, sand and mud as it is now, it handles very well also and I'll be doing a short video on the rice paddies to show that before we go to the Lampang Enduro in October. I did have the front tire wash out on me the other day on a paved corner that had a lip in it and a bit of loose gravel. First time for that to happen. As for the top speed it is now geared for off road and it will do 100 KPH but I don't like running it up that high. Normally, we keep them around 60 to 70 KPH and that's plenty fast enough for me.... The camshaft that came with the High Speed head really let it rev out and that was partly because when they installed that on it, they raised the limit on the Rev-limiter which I didn't know they did, but it was really fast with that setup, just had no low end....

      @TeamDNFracing 19 днів тому

      This is the first off road ride I've had on the CT since I had all the work done. It is also in the process of being set up to ride in a Thai Enduro in October. Have to find out what works and what doesn't. Going to have a manual clutch installed on it so it is easier to get the RPM's up to the sweet Torque range. With the setup it has, on really steep terrain it is difficult to get it to power up. I've still got the Yamaha WR155 but will ride it in more open terrain events where the suspension and longer wheelbase shows off the power and handling. In really tight terrain like this was, it is extremely heavy at 285 pounds and is difficult for me to lift it up when I tip over with it. Different bikes for different terrain....

      I know there isn't, my wife found a place that sold them and she got us five trees, one got ran over by a friend who parked next to it and then. proceeded to back over it to turn around. I probably planted them a bit to close together and had my day workers transplant one to a different area and they just pulled it up by the roots and stuck it in the ground. Needless to say, it didn't fair to well after that, so we have three of them and they are doing great now. Much sweeter fruit than the yellow ones... Thanks for the comment...

Still, she is the best caddy they have at this course, I'll never play there if she leaves... Still, she also finds my golf balls unless they went in the water..... She is a very very good caddie, been mine for the past 8 years.... I'll not play if she can't caddy for me that day....

    My God man the little bike only has what, 8 HP to start with. So ANY aftermarket pipe you waste your money on will at best make a couple of tenths of a HP difference which most likely you will never notice. MAYBE another MPH if you are lucky. Yeah I know you can "feel" the difference...just like back when we were kids and attached playing cards to the rear spokes on our bicycles and got another 10 MPH out of them because of the motor sound. All you accomplished is to make more noise...just what this planet need from the humans. DUH!!!

    • @TeamDNFracing
      @TeamDNFracing 2 місяці тому

      Well geez Wally, who shit in your cornflakes this morning. The reason this exhaust makes a difference is it has a 19 mm head pipe on it. Yes, it is only 2mm larger than the stock one, but hey, where only talking 8 HP from stock here. So, with the Big Bore Kit, better air flow (much more O2 going into the combustion chamber) a larger fuel injector (again, much more fuel going into the combustion chamber) means you have to have a way for all of that combusted gasses to escape. So, we needed a better exhaust system, this one made a difference. Not just in performance but oh yes, the sound is so sweet. So, enough about performance or should I put up what that puny little 8 HP engine puts out now... Yea, I'll put it up. Here are the Dyno numbers: 12.08 HP and 11.74 NM of torque. I didn't do this to go faster, I could care less on how fast the bike is. What matters to me is where I ride the bike off road in the mountain areas around Chiang Mai, Thailand and to do it safely, it needed more Torque to go with that HP increase. Now I have it and I'll be the first one to admit. Honda missed the boat on this engine, it barely has enough power to get out of it's own way, let alone climb steep hilly single track terrain. You do what you want to do to your bike and I'm very happy with the way my bike now performs and especially the way it sounds.... So, let me know how your bike runs and what you've done to it to make it a "BETTER" machine, because mine definitely is better than stock....

    • @TeamDNFracing
      @TeamDNFracing 3 місяці тому

      It was on the bike when I bought it. It was used and I found out on two separate rides that it was not a good crash bar. I've never been one to really lean a street bike over and with this crash bar I hit the crash bar leaning in a tight corner, once on the left side and again once on the right side. That was enough for me and I took the crash bar off because of that. If I had of leaned really hard, I would have lost the front end as it was lifting it when the crasher rubbed the pavement. However, the guy I sold the Triumph to wanted the crash bar, so I gave it to him and told him the reason I removed it. He still wanted it though..... It was probably bought off an on line shopping network here in Thailand. Something like Shopee.co.th
